Entre El Greco
y Cervantes

Víctor Morales

with the RTVE Symphony Orchestra (OS RTVE)

Where the stones of Toledo and the winds of La Mancha turn into music.

Artistic vision

A sonic altarpiece of Castilla-La Mancha.

Between El Greco and Cervantes is a sonic tribute to the essence of Castilla-La Mancha. The project is conceived as a sensorial journey that begins in the contemplation of its landscapes, rises through the pictorial mysticism of El Greco, and finds its narrative force in the indomitable Quixotic spirit. It is an artistic synergy in which music becomes the ultimate catalyst, integrating the vital energy of nature, art and history within a single space of consciousness.

More than uniformity, the work pursues a deep coherence in which the diversity of styles and periods reaches an organic unity under Víctor Morales's vision. The listener moves fluidly between the Castilian horizon, the spirituality of Toledo and the vitality of Cervantes's theatre: a continuous listening experience in which tradition and avant-garde converge in a single artistic gesture.

Repertoire

Four movements, one single horizon.

45 minutes of uninterrupted listening

  1. I

    Paisaje Castellano

    Symphonic Poem for Orchestra

More than a geographic description, it is the emotional perception of space. Broad orchestral textures prioritise timbral colour and the breathing of the discourse. It opens the cycle as an invitation to inner listening: an open territory where time expands and music becomes horizon.

  2. II

    Grecodías

Piece for Piano and Symphony Orchestra

The language turns introspective and symbolic. The work establishes a dialogue with history, spirituality and cultural memory, drawing on the classical legacy reinterpreted through a contemporary sensibility.

    • i. View of Toledo8 min

The city as a space of spiritual resonance.

    • ii. The Burial of the Count of Orgaz10 min

A sonic ritual in which the piano soloist emerges as a meditative voice amid modal melodic gestures and archaic resonances.

  3. III

    Maese Pedro

Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra

Inspired by Cervantes's universe, this work delves into the popular and the symbolic. The saxophone soloist takes on a shifting role: narrator, character and critical conscience of the story. The expressive core of the project: music as sonic theatre and a reflection of the human condition.

  4. IV

    El Sueño de Dulcinea

Piece for Piano with String Orchestra

Inspired by Cervantes's imagery around the character, this work moves into the intimate and the lyrical. The piano emerges as an evocative voice: memory, affection and the unreachable ideal of the story. The emotional closing of the project.
